At the ballpark the Detroit Iron Gloves outscored the Tombstone Huckleberries
4 to 1.
Detroit promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs on 3
hits. Kevin Millar led off and started the rally when he ripped a
base-knock. Todd Hollandsworth followed and he stroked a single. Jim
Edmonds then stroked a one-base hit scoring a run. Scott Rolen got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim. Miguel Tejada stepped into the box and
hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. The early run
support proved sufficient for Doug Davis(7-2) and Detroit. That was all the
run support Davis required. Detroit had 8 hits for the afternoon while
Tombstone had 3.
Francisco Rodriguez earned his 9th save. Derek Lowe(7-7) was charged with the
loss. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 8 hits and 5 walks.
